Mopar Price Guide
Ever wonder what your car was worth sixteen years ago? Or what the value is now?
You can find these things out on this page. If it increases the same in the next 16 years, hang on to that original Mopar. First, for those who aren't aware of the Old Cars Price Guide magazine and the system they use to evaluate your vehicle, I will explain it briefly below. Keep in mind this is not an official outline of their system but I think it's fairly accurate. If you know something I don't let me know.
This class of car is fairly rare, but they are around. It would have to be a 95pt. + Show car, undriven and stored in a climate controlled environment. They are exceptional originals and very low mile, perfect cars or professional restorations. I didn't have a picture of a #1 car so I took this off a net. I'm sure it would pass for #1.
Now we start to get realistic. These cars are nice factory originals, "lady driven" or, "the old man down the street" who garaged it all its life. Also an excellent restoration, driven maybe Sundays only to shows and cruises. This 70 Challenger would be a close #2 car; it falls in this category. This class of car might win 1st at your local car show.
This is your average nice original car showing a little wear inside and out at a close look. Probably needs paint and a little TLC to be #2 cars. This cars fall into this category they are originals needing minor restoration to be real nice.
These cars are originals, definitely needing a restoration. Probably drivable or needing little to make useable. These cars would need a complete restoration to be perfect. From a distance it's noticeable they need work. I guess you could say they are original, drivers needing a restoration to be real nice.
This car is original and complete but needs a ground up restoration of just about everything to be real nice. This could mean in some cases the frame, body, interior, drive train and chrome etc. This car isn't that bad, but you get the picture I'm sure.
Parts car. Need I say more? This class is usually beyond restoration.
This is the price guide chart I have created to show the difference in the values from 1981 until now. I remember buying my first 70 Challenger SE for around $1500 and thinking that it was allot of money. So I thought it would be fun to look back 16 years to see what the prices were. I acquired all the prices from a 1981 Old Cars Pr. Guide magazine and the OCT 1997 Guide. The 1st 3 columns are the #2 #3and #4 class of cars in 1981,the last 3 are 1997 #2, #3 and #4 class, car prices. They do not list the Hemi cars, they say they are inestimable. 440-383 and 6pk owners read the note at the bottom of the chart for more accurate price. Also cars with more options are usually worth a little more than listed. Especially if you car is rare. These prices are fairly accurate and will put you in the ballpark.
NOTE... All prices are in USD.
